The independent report concerning alleged mismanagement within CAF is still being kept from the public domain.
The report, drafted by independent auditors, should be publicly accessible and published on the CAF website. Instead, it remains secret and is only available on tablets at CAF headquarters to selected individuals, despite the CAF president announcing at a press conference that the reports are available on the CAF website. We checked and found no trace of the financial report on the CAF website.
Moreover, the person responsible for its safekeeping was recently appointed, surprisingly, to head the Governance, Risk and Compliance department: Ms. Rebeka, assistant to Judge Damaseb, Chairman of the Governance Committee (and a close associate of Motsepe), who is allegedly helping him conceal all information relating to mismanagement and governance failures within the administration.
Also of note, the Afrikafoot editorial team reported a wave of resignations within the Confederation of African Football (CAF). Resignations have been occurring daily since the beginning and end of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). Following the AFCON, Brazilian staffer Tatiana Flores, recruited under Cédric Aghey, resigned, apparently due to the internal environment.
The same is true for Ghanaian journalist Juliet Bawuah, recruited by Luxolo September. In her case, there were persistent visa issues that the HR and Services department, headed by Reem Adel, was unable to resolve.
There are also repeated complaints regarding the management of HR matters: notably delays in administrative procedures, poor staff retention, favoritism towards Egyptian employees, and unequal treatment of Black African employees.
The human resources director, Reem Adel, who is Egyptian, hired an Egyptian consultant living in the UK, supposedly “working for CAF,” for a position that a qualified African based in Africa could easily fill. She lives in the UK yet receives a CAF salary for this role.
These are all elements that should have been thoroughly examined and verified, instead of being swept under the rug!
