At the request of the African Football Confederation, the Local Organizing Committee (COCAN 21) has agreed to postpone the draw for the final phase of the 2021 Total Energies Africa Cup of Nations, initially scheduled for June 25, 2021. , for logistical reasons related to the Covid-19 pandemic.
This is the content of the CAF press release which resulted from a long discussion between COCAN and CAF in recent days.
According to the latest information, Covid-19 has nothing to do with this case.
The real reason for the postponement is as follows, the company which takes care of the drawing ceremony is the company BULLIT PRODUCTION company under Swiss law whose general manager was in Cameroon for inspections and which was part of the delegation of the FIFA.
This company found the time allotted for the organization of the draw to be very short and asked CAF to make the proposal to COCAN to postpone the date of the event to August 2021.
This company will also be working for the CAN 2021 closing opening ceremony.
CAF is in a very complicated situation because the drawing of lots in the regulations of the competition of the African Football Confederation must take place 6 months before the start of the competition.
